Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a Wiring Technician, responsible for the electrical wiring of motors, fans, E-stop circuits, sensors, and associated components used in our paint refinishing booths and automated conveyor systems.
This role presents an excellent opportunity for a 1st or 2nd-year electrical apprentice, or someone with basic electrical experience and a strong interest in industrial automation. The successful candidate will be trained with a view to progressing into a Commissioning Engineer role, supporting system start-up, fault-finding, and control logic verification both in-house and on customer sites.
Key Responsibilities:
• Wire motors, fans, limit switches, proximity sensors, E-stops, contactors, and relays in accordance with electrical schematics.
• Route, terminate, and label cables and wiring inside electrical panels and field installations.
• Assist with the build, modification, and testing of control panels and junction boxes.
• Carry out tests on installed wiring.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and adhere to relevant electrical standards.
• Support commissioning engineers with basic functional checks, signal testing, and equipment calibration.
• Maintain accurate records of work carried out and materials used.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites with overnight stays for installation and commissioning support (once trained). Expected a minimum of three nights per week working away from home on average.
Requirements:
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and wiring techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams (training will be provided if needed).
• Practical experience with hand tools, crimpers, multimeters, etc.
• Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Full UK driving licence preferred (or working towards).
• Right to work in the UK.
Desirable (but not essential):
• Enrolled in or completed an electrical apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Installation.
• Familiarity with control panels, VSDs (e.g., LS Electric, Siemens), and automation systems.
• Interest or background in industrial control, PLCs, or commissioning work.
Development Path:
This role is designed with a clear progression path in mind. Suitable candidates will be supported through in-house and external training, shadowing experienced engineers, and gradually taking on more responsibility in the commissioning phase. This includes:
• Basic PLC and HMI programming
• Field device calibration
• Control system troubleshooting
• On-site commissioning and customer support
