Spraybooth innovations we couldn’t do without

If your business uses spray booths, you will know exactly how important they are to your work. Whichever industry your business belongs to, you’ll rely on spray booths just like any other business relies on the thing most central to the completion of orders.

However, you may have a limited knowledge of the actual components within the spray booth. As long as your spray booth is functioning properly, its inner workings are of little importance, right?

This isn’t strictly true. We recommend that all our clients take a little time to understand the components within their spray booth and how they all contribute to the functioning of the whole system.

Here are the most useful spray booth innovations that we simply could not do without.

QADs Auxiliary Air Movement

One of Junair’s many patented products, QADs is an advanced auxiliary air movement system that provides airflow from each corner of the cabin. The main reason we introduced QADs technology was to speed up drying of water based paints, however a secondary benefit was the energy savings made. We know how important energy saving is for your business, because it’s just as important for ours.

There is an increasing need for businesses to comply with current environmental legislation, which is why QADs technology is so vital. We’ve not only made spraying better for the environment (QADs saves up to 40% of your energy cost, it heats air much quicker, and reduces the need for fast activators so you’re not hoarding unnecessary stock) but we’ve also made it quicker (you’ll get faster flash off using waterborne base coats, a quicker curing of low VOC top coats, and you can cover a whole vehicle in just one sitting).

Digital control panels

To give you full control of your spray booth, digital control panels were introduced to make the whole process easier. Junair’s own development (the iSystem³) was designed on the back of extensive customer feedback, research and development. With an intuitive menu and user friendly controls, our PLC (programmable logic controller) also has a touch screen display and ergonomic touch buttons.

What’s more, you can ensure that what you’re spraying isn’t over/under cured with the pre-programmed bake cycles. With the PLC’s automatic controls, you can proceed with the most efficient cure profile which will save you money and time. There’s also an ECO mode which reduces the input and extract motors to a preselected speed. Find more information about our iSystem³ here.

LED lighting for bigger, better savings

Years ago, spray booth cabins were lit using traditional lighting from fluorescent bulbs. The downside was that the light quality would soon deteriorate in colour as well as brightness. The answer was LED lighting and the industry has never looked back. LED lighting is estimated to be 80-90% more efficient than conventional bulbs and they’re virtually maintenance free, too. You’ll see an increase in LUX (a term used to measure light output) and enjoy a long 10-20 year lifespan where you will not have to bother changing them.

One more thing: if your business wants to be greener, then LED lights are definitely the way to go. The aforementioned fluorescent lights contained both lead and mercury, which meant that they had to be responsibly disposed of after use to avoid environmentally governed penalties.

Fully gridded LEVAC floors

An innovation made possible by the team at Junair, the fully gridded and fully extracted LEVAC floor has been a revelation for the industry and it’s definitely something we couldn’t do without.

Our LEVAC floors provide an alternative to pit extraction, meaning that there’s no longer the need for the excavation you’d get with conventional pits. Ultimately, this will save you thousands of pounds in installation because a new booth can be up and running even quicker. You won’t have the disruption of excavation, and you can relocate the spray booth if needed. Suffice to say that it’s changed the industry! Visit our post on fully gridded LEVAC floors to learn more.

Speak to us about your spray booth needs

Of course, the above are all innovations that our whole industry cannot do without. As our industry shares many of the same issues as those in the automotive, industrial, commercial, and aerospace industries, we know that the above innovations are just as useful to you.

However, if you have a particular issue about spraybooths then don’t hesitate to get in touch. Perhaps you’re unsure of the size you need, or you have very specific requirements. Many of our products are bespoke and tailored to your requirements, so we’re happy to discuss options. Contact us here to speak to a Junair representative.
